The Story Behind AMITUFF

More than a decade ago, I came across a story that stayed with me.

A Buddhist woman had a custom license plate on her SUV that read “Amituofo” — the Chinese pronunciation of Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light.  One day, in a New York mall parking lot, a man noticed it, smiled, and gave her a thumbs-up.
Curious, she asked if he understood the meaning. He laughed and said, “I thought it said Am I tough?” It was a simple misunderstanding — a light moment.  But the words stayed with me. “Am I tough?”

Over time, that question began to change. Not about toughness on the outside, but strength within — clarity, calm, and the heart.

And from that moment, AMITUFF was born.

A new way of seeing opens when you understand its meaning. You begin to see the world — and yourself — differently.

But AMITUFF is more than clothing. It is a space to share your journey — your experiences, your thoughts, and your dreams.

We believe that what you see clearly within, you begin to create in reality.

The images you hold,
the vision you have,
the life you imagine —
all shape the path ahead.

This is a place like power station,
dreams are visualized,
and inner strength is awakened.

Because when you truly see with the heart,
you don’t just ask “Am I tough?”

You begin to realize — you already are.
